The home of Gibson electric guitars today is Gibson USA, built in 1974 in Nashville specifically for the production of Gibson's Les Paul guitars. Although the entire guitar industry went through a slump in the late '70s, the spirit of innovation remained strong at Gibson. In response to a growing demand for vintage stylings, Gibson tapped its rich history and reissued the dot-neck version of the ES-335 in 1981 and the flametop sunburst Les Paul in 1982. At the same time, two legendary guitarists joined Gibson- B.B. King in 1980 with the Lucille model and Chet Atkins in 1982 with his new concept of a solidbody acoustic guitar.
Gibson world headquarters moved to Nashville in 1984 with the closing of the Kalamazoo plant. The financially troubled company was rescued in January 1986 by Henry Juszkiewicz and David Berryman, and the new owners quickly restored Gibson's reputation for quality as well as its profitability. Today's Gibson electric guitars represent the history as well as the future of the electric guitar. The models whose designs have become classics-the ES-175, ES-335, Flying V, Explorer, Firebird, SGs and Les Pauls-are a testament to Gibson's wide appeal, spanning more than four decades of music styles. Gibson's close relationship with musicians is manifest in endorsement models from King, Atkins and jazz greats Howard Roberts and Herb Ellis, plus new Les Pauls made to the personal specifications of rock stars Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. In 1994, Gibson's Centennial year, the new Nighthawk model won an industry award for design, setting the stage for a second hundred years of Gibson quality and innovation.

Groove Tubes started back in the late 1970's when Aspen Pittman, founder and visionary, hired some technical folks to explore why tubes performed and sounded so different. Apsen has always had a great fascination with tubes, tone and amps and his personal collection of vintage amps and tube recording mics hovers around 250+ pieces! Driven by curiosity, as much as an itch to start a new business, Aspen and these engineers discovered entirely new tube operating characteristics to measure and new ways of interpreting these test data results. This research became the foundation for the Groove Tubes performance testing and matching process we still use today.

Of course, there’s more to the harmonica than a colorful history, and today there’s more to Hohner than harmonicas!

Frustrated by the fact he couldn't find a monitor that gave him clarity and accuracy, he began building his own monitors. Other engineers and producers began to take notice of Keith's high-end studio monitors, a groundswell began and a company was born. They also began commissioning him to build custom main systems as well. We attribute this remarkable beginning to Keith's affinity for electronics, his passion for music, and his originality and insight.

Each era of music has its share of definitive guitars. In the 70's, for example, the Les Paul electric became THE heavy metal and hard rock guitar. In the 60's, Jim Hendrix made the Fender Stratocaster the definitive rock instrument. Both of those had one advantage that the 20's bluesmen didn't have. That was electrical amplification of sound. Back then, however, Blues guitarists had the next best thing; the National Resonator type guitar, which was three to five times as loud as any made of wood, and impervious to the often instrument-unfriendly environments of the tent shows and juke joints. This was because the guitar was made of metal, which is what makes it instantly recognizable to even the newest Blues fan.

Led by Dick Peterson, a pioneer of solid state electronics, its first product was the Model 150 in 1952 and, realizing the need for a light but accurate device, Peterson engineer Bill Hass built the first battery powered handheld tuner in 1964, the Model 70. This culminated in the Peterson Model 400 strobe tuner in 1967. This was the first solid-state strobe tuner. With rock musicians´ increasing fascination with all things technical, and the accompanying strive for excellence & perfection in the audio arena, the strobe tuner began to be a common sight on stage and in the recording studio. Many will recall first seeing the mysterious flickering dials behind such luminaries as the Grateful Dead, The Who, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young et al. It also took its place as a must-have in the road cases of their touring crews, still the case today.

A unique guitar RainSongs are the only all-graphite acoustic guitars in the world: body, neck and soundboard are all made out of pure graphite.
All-graphite construction and Projection Tuned Layering(TM) mean great sound. Projection Tuned Layering was developed by RainSong to ensure that all RainSongs have the crystal detail, warmth and volume of the classic carbon sound. In conventional guitars, acoustic volume is limited by the weight of bracing. Also, bracing provides only local, non-uniform stiffness, resulting in varying amounts of undesirable overtones and some deadening of tone and detail. RainSong's all-graphite construction and Projection Tuned Layering remove the need for bracing by providing uniform stiffness across the soundboard. RainSongs are made entirely without braces for greater acoustic volume and clean, detailed tone.
For over one hundred years, Washburn has built more than just great guitars, we've built a history. The Washburn tradition of craftsmanship and innovation has withstood the tests of economics, brand competition and fashion. Since our birth in Chicago in 1883, the name Washburn has been branded into the world's finest stringed instruments. If your interest in guitars borders on passion, you will settle for nothing less than a Washburn.
The essential ingredients in Rane's successful philosophy are knowledge, integrity, pride and common sense. At Rane, people learn to treat people the way they would want to be treated, to design & build products the way they would want theirs designed & built, and that when something goes wrong, you react quickly and decisively to correct it. It is an old fashioned, common sense way to run a business, based on mutual trust and respect.

When Richie Taninbaum went into The Power Station, one of New York's most famous recording studios for a session with producer and engineer Bob Clearmountain, little did he know that he would leave with an idea that would revolutionize the world of percussion.
A full-time drummer and percussionist whose album credits include hits with such artists as Herbie Mann, Ben E. King, and Eddie Kendricks; Taninbaum explains, ""I was laying down a tambourine track that was over 15 minutes long. After a couple of takes my arm got so tired that I couldn't continue. I felt pretty bad but Bob (Clearmountain) told me that my problem was no different than any other percussionist's. I was really determined to find a way to make a tambourine that didn't feel as heavy and was easier to play ... but still sounded good."""
Handmade in America"" - three words that proudly embody Rickenbacker's unchanging commitment to quality and excellence. A commitment that is as strong today as it was in the Company's beginnings, over sixty five years ago.
Indeed, little has changed in the production of Rickenbacker guitars and basses. The time-honored skills of craftsmanship and handwork are as prevalent in the Rickenbacker factory as the lack of modern conveyer-belt assembly lines.
While utilizing some of the most modern tools and equipment available, Rickenbacker has been selective in employing technology to be sure that improved quality is the only reason for not performing the operation in a traditional fashion. In fact, to the greatest extent, the most skillful and demanding work is still done entirely by hand.
Every instrument bearing the Rickenbacker name was produced in our own factory in California, U.S.A.
Rio Grande Pickups was founded in 1993 by John ""Bart"" Wittrock. Bart has been repairing and dealing used and vintage guitars since 1972. An active participant in the first ever vintage guitar show, which took place in Dallas, Texas in 1978, he is a veteran of as many or more guitar shows than just about anyone. Now that's guitar history!
Bart probably wound his first pickup as far back as '78 as part of a rigorous regimen of repairing, restoring, and dealing vintage electric guitars. ""I was always interested in the design and construction of pickups but was involved in other guitar related business. I am extremely pleased to say that I have now realized a dream to actually produce a high quality American-made pickup which will contribute to the evolving sound of the electric guitarist.""
Rio Grande pickups are custom wound and ""seasoned to taste"" in a ""low-tech/high-tone"" environment.
In August of 1976, Paul Rivera (that's him, to the right) founded Rivera R&D in Southern California to provide for musicians and the music industry leading-edge design, development, and manufacturing of products based on the philosophy that you, our client, are the center of our attention. Every Rivera product is crafted with you in mind, and we have never strayed from that path. It has been our driving force, from our early work in the 1970s with the who’s who of the studio world, to our consulting work for many of the leading amplifier manufacturers, to today’s extensive line of professional products that we proudly hand-build in the USA. Rivera is a privately owned company. We do not have to answer to shareholders. We answer only to you.
With the newcomers Avalon and Savoy and oldtimers like the Ranger, Medley, and Machete (and Wrangler), the Robin line has settled into comfortable middle age. Today Robin employs about 10 people. Recently Allen Hill joined to handle marketing, freeing Dave Wintz up to concentrate on design. ""It's tough to make a guitar company
go, observes Wintz. You have to be in it for the long haul. It's hard because as a rock and roll company, you want to get the glory you didn't get as a player. It's tempting to go wild, but you have to be conservative and patient."" Robin guitars continue to get fancier and inevitably more expensive.
We realized we were making too good a guitar for what we had been charging,"" says Wintz,
but it's never really been about the money. You have to make some money, of course, but it's always been about the guitars.""
Almost universally feature headphone jacks: are an inexpensive and space-efficient way to amplify your electric instrument for private practice. Unfortunately, many practice amps are strictly for the bedroom; their bass-shy, boxy sound and wimpy power output are inappropriate for most ensemble playing. Through the Rocktron RB30 was designed for the student bassist, it boasts enough power and tone to be a capable companion in the woodshed as well as for low-volume group performance.
The handsome RB30 incorporates visual features that help elevate it above the mundane aesthetics of most practice amps. The silver mesh speaker-cloth with white trim, vivid front panel lettering, and subtle chrome accents give the RB30 an appealing vintage guitar amp look. The solid construction is admirable for this price range. The front-panel knobs and backlit power switch felt durable; each of the knobs exhibited a clean and even rotation. I unscrewed the four bolts on top of the RB30 to slide out the amp’s steel chassis. The permanent internal speaker connection limited me from removing the entire chassis, but I discerned a well-designed interior layout with no-frills components. The printed circuit board was neatly arranged and firmly bolted to the chassis and the carefully bundled wiring looked tidy.
The RB30 incorporates handy features like a line out, a stereo headphone jack, and an effects loop. The line out jack can be used to record or to connect to a P.A. or power amp. The headphone output sounded great with an inexpensive pair of cans. Conveniently, when the headphone jack is in use, the internal speaker is automatically muted. In addition to its standard effects loop function, the return/CD input jack also allows you to plug in a stereo ¼"" plug from any audio source to jam along with the music. This feature would be great for the hotel room, where you may only have a portable CD or tape player at your
disposal.

Freedman Electronics was a pioneer in the Australian audio industry for the design, manufacture, installation and servicing of a diverse range of audio products. Loudspeakers, amplifiers, custom electronics and microphones were all a part of the company's expertise; all of which took place within the confines of the small but unique Australian market.

The task of becoming a master at all aspects of guitar making is a lifelong pursuit, and Richard has patiently refined his craftsmanship and knowledge as his company has grown. It was and is Richard's intent to translate his skills and sensitivities as an individual builder to an exceptional team of craftspeople, each of whom could become an expert in their specialty. Not long after the Indiana Guitar Company and Bean Blossom lines were established to meet the ever increasing need for quality instruments.

Manufactures musical instruments such as the Z-tar. The Z-tar is an electronic musical instrument that you connect via a MIDI cable to synthesizers, samplers, sequencers, and computers. The main difference between the Z-tar and other MIDI guitar controllers is that there are no strings on the neck. Instead, the fingerboard is actually a specialized keyboard with a touch-sensitive key each note position. You can play the Z-tar like a guitar where you fret with one hand and strum with the other hand, or you can tap the fingerboard keys to play them as you would a keyboard, only you’re playing the same scales and fingerings that you use on guitar.
The Ztar is not a guitar. It does not replace a guitar. It helps a guitarist play synthesizers and play into computers.

The world was very different in 1976. Gerald R. Ford was the 38th President of the United States. George Lucas began filming his new Star Wars project. The Concorde began supersonic service “across the pond,” and Dane Butcher founded Symetrix. He set out to provide cost-effective signal processing solutions for audio professionals - long before the term “signal processing solutions” was a glimmer in anyone’s imagination. The notion of products boasting excellent sound, quality construction, and accessible pricing caught on and Symetrix began a long-standing tradition of worldwide service in a variety of pro settings. These included recording studios, sound reinforcement, stage amplification, broadcast, and installed sound. The last two would ultimately become industrial strength mainstays of today's Symetrix. Through the course of our colorful 28-year history Symetrix has always believed in innovation. We’ve introduced a number of products that have changed the way audio professionals work. We introduced one of the first telephone hybrid interfaces, a groundbreaking tool for broadcasters. We established a new product category - the voice processor. From suitably humble beginnings, sketched out on a cocktail napkin, this product went on to set the standard of performance, a benchmark by which competitors have been measured for years.

Takamine made great advancements with their palethetic pickup, and set the standard for the industry. Other manufacturers soon offered acoustic/electric models, but none has reached the level of sophistication and performance set by Takamine. Our Takamine pickup is like no other. It's an integral part of the guitar's design, not a retrofit like most other "factory" systems. Six individual piezo transducers are embedded in the bridge plate where they sense both string and soundboard vibration. Takamine also pioneered the slider control preamp style for the acoustic/electric guitar. No other guitar company had the technological advancements that Takamine set in place, and to this day no other guitar company can achieve that level of quality in the market.

In 1989, after ten years exhaustive research and development with world-class guitar amplifiers, a tired but victorious B. Andrew Barta launched his unique SansAmp. This revolutionary pedal-sized tube amplifier emulator enables musicians to dial in monster tones and patch them directly to a studio mixer or stage PA. Its discrete 100% analog circuitry uses a hyper-realistic tone structure that includes mic and speaker simulation with pre and power amp distortion characteristics. Finally, it was possible to get stunning, consistent tones without brutalizing amps, heaving speaker cabs or futzing with microphones to find that elusive ‘sweet spot.’ Instead, the SansAmp delivered all of its mammoth sounds from a pocket-sized pedal.

An evolution in technology created the need for more application-specific design. The days of generic desks, and stands has past. In 1994, ARGOSY introduced the first console enclosure designed to integrate the revolutionary Mackie 8.bus analog mixer (pictured above). From that moment on, Argosy has grown this approach to define the category of studio furniture.
So taken by Argosy's approach to functionality and impressive look of the console enclosures, client requests have lead to other types of technical furniture solutions. Today Argosy offers a broad selection of studio furniture designed to inspire the heart as well as the mind."
Arai and Company, founded in 1953 in Japan by Shiro Arai, began marketing Aria brand acoustic guitars in 1960, and began manufacturing its own acoustic guitars in 1964, followed by electrics in 1966, using Arai, Aria, Aria Diamond, and Diamond brand names. The Aria brand name was changed to Aria Pro II in late 1975, though this has been used primarily (but not exclusively) for electric guitars. All guitars were made in Japan until 1988, when production of less expensive models was switched to Korea. In the mid-1990s a few models were made in the United States. What follows is a listing of the Aria guitars we've been able to trace through this history. Obviously, this is not inclusive, and you should always take the dates as advisory, at best. Also, this whole listing is primarily related to the American market, but could also reflect dates and models from other markets as well.

Unlimited processing power and the ability to cut, copy and paste audio tracks together, to manipulate, perfect and compile performances has made the digital studio and the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) the mainstay of the recording process for the foreseeable future. The only remaining limitation of the DAW has always been this; “Yeah, the editing and mixing is great, I love the plug-ins and the effects, but how does it sound?”
Frankly, all of the direct to hard-drive recorders, digital multitracks and computer- based systems are great because they really have no defined ‘sound’ at all. Where a media like two-inch analog tape was warm, fat and furry, digital is often perceived as clean, yes, but also cold and clinical. The truth is, with good digital audio, whatever goes in, comes out generally uncolored. It isn’t the digital world that sounds sterile as much as it’s the source material recorded through a D/A converter that’s designed to be pristine and clean, and as a byproduct may sound a little “lifeless.”"

A guitarist, bandleader, and graduate architect, Harvey Citron has been building guitars and basses since the early 1970's. He co-founded Veillette-Citron in 1975, and during that partnership's eight years built some of the finest handcrafted electric guitars, basses, and baritone guitars. As an independant luthier, Harvey Citron designed the Guild X/92 Breakaway guitar, and has been a frequent reviewer for Guitar Player, Bass Player, and Guitar World magazines. His Basic Guitar Set-Up and Repair instructional video is available from Homespun Tapes. Today, he builds guitars and basses in his shop in Woodstock, New York.
Harvey Citron's philosophy of instrument-making comes from years as both a guitarist and a luthier. ""I strive to continually improve and create new designs, and build instruments that suit the needs of players. My hope is that my instruments make magic in yours hands, allowing your vision to be fully

We build high quality cases and case covers for musical instruments. Our cases are
designed to provide you with years of protection from the physical and environmental
hazards your instruments face daily.
We are committed to making a finely crafted product that can withstand the most severe
weather that the summer festival season can deal out. Our cases are designed for the
professional musician, but are equally at home in your living room.
All of our cases feature a proprietary design system which makes our cases virtually
waterproof and offer unparalleled thermal protection in all weather conditions. You can
read more about our technology here.
We make rigid cases, soft cases, case covers and a wide range of accessories. We offer
standard cases to fit a wide range of common instrument sizes, but we specialize in
making custom cases designed just for your instrument. Our custom cases can be
personalized by adding straps and pockets where you want them, and can also be

Over the years, Community has led the way in providing powerful and articulate full-range sound with exceptional ""throw"" (projection capability) in massive outdoor and indoor venues. We developed the world's first giant triaxial full-range, weather resistant horn system; the first compact, full-range weather resistant horn system; and the first high quality all-purpose, all-weather loudspeaker system, the WET Series. The design, construction, testing, and effective positioning of these systems allow our clients to not only reproduce audio more efficiently, but actually involve spectators and audience members in the total entertainment experience.
We¹ve designed the clarity, balance and projection of our larger systems into a range of versatile theater and club systems so that musicians and DJs can effectively communicate their music and lyrics with maximum power, deep bass impact and an exceptional response throughout the midrange and upper frequencies. Our permanently installed loudspeaker systems bring new standards of clarity and coverage to schools, auditoriums, houses of worship, and other installations.
In addition to innovative ideas and designs, each of our products is manufactured as part of an exacting procedure to ensure absolute quality. The construction of a Community compression driver is a personalized process, with a number of intricate steps that must be executed by hand with care and precision. Time-consuming and costly, this process provides exceptional control over each component and results in absolute electrical and mechanical efficiency with no compromises in audio performance.

Our musician-first philosophy produces innovative, versatile amps appreciated by players and industry critics alike, and since our first piece of gear we’ve infused that unmistakable Crate style. Nearly 35 years ago, traditional amp builders had staked their claim to legions of players satisfied with amp technologies that'd been around for 20+ years. While our monolithic competitors rested on their laurels, Crate made innovation the norm with stripped down, ready-for-the-trenches designs. The solid pine box, ammo can handle, and metal reinforcements of our near-indestructible first models would be a sign of greatness to come. And with our patented FlexWave technology as the springboard to our success, even the most discriminating musicians came to feel the vibe.
With that same youthful grit and aggressive approach to sound, Crate now directs the future of the industry. Our engineers lead the pack with the implementation of digital effects technologies, and our product line continues to evolve ahead of the cusp. It's an ongoing testament to the passion of employees who make great sounding music their livelihood, their hobby, and their way of life.

"Well-known music-artists and other famous panpipe players appreciate the outstanding sound and the excellent handcraftsmanship of the DAJOERI panflute and they either had gotten DAJOERI Panflutes or had requested to adjust a panflute to their individual playing technique by the DAJOERI panpipe atelier. In over 30 years of research, the quality of the DAJOERI panpipe developed to a very high standard, which professional panflute artists and our clients know to appreciate. In 1975 the work of DAJOERI received an Award for Applied Art from the Swiss Department for Internal Affairs and in 1988 the company received a recognition from the GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS for the world's biggest playable Rumanian concert panflute.
The DAJOERI Panflute School is the oldest one in West-Europe and was founded in 1971. They offer panpipe instructions for adults and teens in many places in Switzerland as well as abroad and made a substantial contribution for the worldwide distribution of this wonderful instrument.

B-Band is a manufacturer of high quality pickup systems for acoustic guitars, violins and double basses. All B-Band pickups use our proprietary patented electret film technology! B-Band pickups do not use common piezo material like most of our competitors. Piezo pickups tend to impart a sound of their own, often described as "quacky" or "plastic", B-Band transducers act in much the same way a condenser microphone does. This results in excellent reproduction of your acoustic instrument's unique voice. "Hear the Truth"™
In 1983 we became EMG, Inc. (the big time) and haven't looked back. Through all the company name changes the pickups were always known as EMG Pickups. Not many people know why we called them ""EMG"", but we'll let you in on the secret now - EMG stands for Electro-Magnetic Generator!
There is no other pickup built as well as an EMG. The coils are precision wound, matched both resistively and inductively, and finally, vacuum sealed. All internal preamplifiers are Surface Mount Technology (SMT) for quality and reliability. Each pickup is tested for audio quality and reliability before encapsulation and again before shipment.
